Is It Possible to Know Everything About Someone (Including Yourself) and Still Not Truly Know Them?
The Illusion of Knowing: How to Truly See Yourself and Others
It’s a haunting realization: you can know everything about someone—their habits, their history, the way they like their coffee—and yet not truly know them. The same is true of ourselves. We can spend a lifetime looking in the mirror, replaying our memories, and recounting our stories, only to realize we’ve barely scratched the surface of who we are.
This hit me profoundly today. After years of reflection and healing, I suddenly understood something about my life, my relationships, and, most importantly, myself.
"Forgiveness isn’t a destination—it’s a process. And as I’ve learned, it starts with yourself. When you forgive who you were, you create space to embrace who you are."
What I’ve come to realize is that forgiveness isn’t about excusing the past or erasing mistakes. It’s about reclaiming your power. Forgiveness is a boundary—one that says, “I’m releasing what no longer serves me, but I’m also redefining what I will allow moving forward.”
My Aha Moment
For 36 years, I’ve been in a marriage where I thought I knew everything about my partner, and I thought they knew everything about me. We’ve shared a life, raised children, and built memories. But today, I realized that despite all the years, the shared experiences, and the conversations, there were parts of me—and them—that remained unseen.
The truth that struck me is this: You can know everything about someone and still not know them fully.
For years, I carried the pain of believing I wasn’t enough, that I needed to try harder (hello, Capricorn Sun and Mercury energy), or that I was destined to be misunderstood (thank you, Scorpio rising). But now I see it differently. Every heartbreak was a mirror, reflecting not my failures but the parts of me that needed healing and the person I was becoming (welcome, Life DNA clarity).
What finally brought me peace was understanding my why. I stayed in this relationship through confusion and difficulty because it allowed me to create the family I dreamed of as a child. Growing up in total chaos with not-so-loving-step-parents, I was determined to provide my children with stability and love. For me, breaking that cycle wasn’t just important—it was non-negotiable. And learning how to cultivate healthy, reciprocal relationships—well, that’s one of the soul lessons I quite literally came here to master (North Node in Taurus, 7th house).
This clarity helped me forgive myself for not making changes sooner. It wasn’t about weakness or failure—it was always about love. And now, I can honor that as I move forward.
What Is Life DNA?
This aha moment reminded me of something I share with my clients: Life DNA—the unique blueprint that defines who we are, why we behave the way we do, and what lessons we’re here to learn.
Your Life DNA is like a map and a compass to your inner self. It doesn’t erase life’s challenges, but it brings clarity to them. It shows you the patterns, strengths, and lessons you were born to embody and helps you navigate your path with purpose and confidence.
Forgiveness, for example, is a huge part of our Life DNA journey. It’s not just about letting go of others—it’s about seeing your own patterns with clarity, forgiving the choices you made from fear or survival, and learning to step into your power with love and grace.
How My Life DNA Helped Me Forgive Myself
Understanding my Life DNA—a map of the lessons, strengths, and purpose written into my astrological chart—completely shifted how I see my life and the choices I’ve made. It gave me clarity about why certain patterns kept showing up and how those experiences were guiding me toward growth. Here are a few key points from my chart that illuminated my journey:
1. North Node in Taurus, 7th House: Lessons in Relationships
In astrology, your North Node represents your destined lessons—the areas of life where your soul is meant to grow and evolve. For me, it’s in Taurus, in the 7th house of relationships. This placement taught me that one of my life’s biggest lessons is to create healthy, balanced relationships. It’s not just about giving to others but learning to receive love and support in return.
2. Pluto in the 11th House: Growth Through Community
Pluto in my 11th house revealed that my most profound transformations come through my connections with others. For a long time, I struggled with trust and vulnerability in relationships. But these experiences weren’t failures—they were teaching me to let go of unhealthy patterns and build authentic, empowering connections.
3. Mercury Conjunct Sun in the 3rd House: The Power of Communication
This placement in my chart reflects my ability to communicate clearly and practically, especially when sharing meaningful ideas. It’s why I’ve always felt called to guide others, whether through writing, teaching, or offering insights. Over time, I’ve also learned to balance logic with intuition, trusting both my mind and my heart.
4. Black Moon Lilith in Aries, 6th House: Redefining Work and Service
Lilith in my 6th house showed me why I often resisted traditional ideas of work and routine. I felt trapped by rigid expectations and struggled to find freedom in daily life. But Lilith also taught me how to embrace my independence and create routines that honor both my need for structure and my desire for freedom.
Forgiveness Is the Key to Knowing Yourself
“Forgiveness isn’t a destination—it’s a process. And as I’ve learned, it starts with yourself. When you forgive who you were, you create space to embrace who you are.”
This realization has transformed the way I view my journey—and it’s why I’m so passionate about helping others uncover their Life DNA.
Forgiveness isn’t about excusing the past or waiting for others to change—it’s about reclaiming your power and choosing to grow. It’s about seeing the lessons in your challenges and deciding to move forward with clarity, purpose, and love.
